Description
A brown plaid midi skirt with black lace set along the slit — a tailoring fabric interrupted by something softer, in the one place you notice when she walks. From the front it is a straight, quiet check; the lace only appears in motion.
Fabric & feel
63% polyester, 34% viscose, 3% elastane, made in Italy by Barbara Alvisi. The viscose keeps the check from looking flat and the 3% elastane means the fabric follows the body without pulling at the seams. Matte finish, mid-weight — it holds a crease where you want one and drops out the ones you do not. The waistband is elasticated, so there is no zip to sit against the spine.
Fit & sizing
Straight through the hip and falling to mid-calf, with the slit set on one side and edged in lace. The elastic waist gives roughly a size of flexibility in either direction, which makes it a forgiving piece across a day. Convert Italian sizing with the fit and sizing guide.
How to wear it
Photographed with a fine dark knit, which is the version that lets the lace register. Brown plaid also takes cream, camel and black without a decision — and it is one of the few checks that works with denim on top. Care
Delicate wash, cold, and dry flat. Keep the lace away from anything that catches — fasten it inside a mesh bag if you wash it with other things. Steam rather than press; a hot iron will glaze the polyester and flatten the lace. Hang from the waistband to store, or fold with the slit flat.
